Modified forms of examination for master's theses - does it apply to you?

If you must submit your Master's thesis after 1 September 2017, you must be aware of whether the academic regulations has been modified.

2017.09.07 | Karoline Munk Hansen

As of 1 September, the description of the Master's thesis has been updated and adjusted in the academic regulations for the following Master's degree programs:

  • Scandinavian Languages and Literature
  • Media Studies
  • Information Studies
  • Digital design (Digital Living)
  • Philosophy
  • History of Ideas
  • Human Security

If you're a student at one of the above-mentioned degree programs, and you must submit your Master's thesis after 1 September 2017, you will be conducted in accordance with the revised description, which constitutes the new basis of assessment for the thesis.

Therefore it is very important that you familiarise yourself with the description of the thesis in your academic regulations.

You can find your academic regulations by logging on to - or at the Arts Study Portal

We advise you to talk to your thesis supervisor about the impact that the new rules will have on you and your thesis.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the student guidance service.

Please also note that the oral defence of Master's theses has been discontinued in virtually all master's theses and degree programs as of 1 September 2017. You can read more about oral defence of the Master's thesis here.
