If you do not pass your first examination attempt within the ordinary examination period, you are personally responsible for registering for the re-examination (the second or third attempt). You register for your re-examination in the Student Self-Service system (STADS). You must register within these deadlines:
Please note, you cannot deregister for an reexam after the registration deadline for reexams has expired. This means, the 14-day deadline for withdrawal does not apply to the reexaminations
A prerequisite for registering for a re-examination (in February or August) is that you have been registered as having used an examination attempt at the ordinary exam, i.e. failed an exam for which you have registered within the deadline. You will also fail an examination if you do not submit the exam paper or assignment.

To be admitted to the re-examinations, students must fulfil the requirements set up in the latest versions of the course descriptions. This means that anyone who signs up for the re-examinations MUST have passed the examination requirements stated in the relevant course description. Please go to this site to learn more.
According to section 18, item 4 of the ministerial order no. 670 of 19/06/2014 on university examinations and grading (the examination order), the academic regulations may stipulate that re-examinations have a different examination or assessment form to the ordinary examination, see sections 3(1) and section 20. However, this does not apply to the bachelor's project and the master's thesis.
If you have withdrawn from an examination (first examination attempt), you must register for the exam in the next ordinary examination period.

If you wish to take a reexamination in August or February, you register via the student self-service facility (Stads) within the stated deadlines (see the above item 'Registration for reexamination').
Students who can present a medical certificate documenting disease on the exam day can get permission to late deregistration of the exam without using an attempt. The disease must be documented by your general practitioner on the day of the exam. To apply for this you must use the form 'Application for deferment of examination attempt due to illness' and submit it as soon as possible after the issue of the medical certificate. The form and medical certificate must be submitted to BSS Student Services.
