Course registration

Registration periods

  • Registration for spring semester: 1 - 5 November
  • Registration for fall semester: 1 - 5 May

Students register for their elective courses via mit.au.dk (the selfservice facility) Once registration has taken place, you are automatically signed up for the exams as well. The registration is binding.

 

The study administration will register bachelor students for compulsory courses according to the academic regulations. If you wish to register for a compulsory course from a previous semester, you must send an email to:

Please note the demands for study progress and maximum duration of study when you register for courses.

If you are Master’s degree student and choose to take a course at Bachelor's degree level (requires exemption), please be aware that you risk that Bachelor and Master's courses may overlap.

 

 

Registration for elective courses - first and second round

  1. First registration period is from 1 - 5 May and 1 - 5 November. After these dates the registrations will be final for all students, who were admitted to the courses they applied for, however the students’ academic regulations are always considered. 
  2. Students who were not admitted to the requested courses, e.g. due to cancellation or restricted admission, can register during second registration round, which will be between 12- 15 May and 12-14 November. Students can only register for courses that have empty seats after the first round of registration.

Cancel course registration

If you wish to cancel a course registration or change your course registration, this is done via mit.au.dk within the registration periods from 1 – 5 May (autumn courses) and 1 - 5 November (spring courses).

Cancel course registration

The rules for withdrawal outside the registration periods are as follows:

  • It is only possible to cancel course registrations in exceptional cases and only based on an application for exemption. It can only take place until the end of the second week after the start of the semester, according to which all registrations are considered to be binding. An exemption to cancel a course registration is only granted, if the application is justified on reasonable academic reasons. Withdrawal after 2 weeks of teaching is only granted if exceptional circumstances are documented.

Change of courses

The rules for change of courses outside the registration period are as follows:

  • Change of course registrations can only take place in exceptional cases and only based on an application for exemption. It can only take place until the end of the second week after the start of the semester, according to which all registrations are considered to be binding. An exemption to change course registrations is only granted, if the application is justified on reasonable academic reasons and the premises capacity allows it. Change between two courses after 2 weeks of teaching is only granted if exceptional circumstances are documented.

Exemption

It is not possible to cancel a course registration, unless you have received an exemption or you have one of the below mentioned reasons.

 Students can only cancel course registrations in connection with:

  • Internship (according to the regulations governing this) 
  • Studies abroad (exchange and free movers, according to the regulations governing this)
  • Enrollment as guest student at another study programme/educational institution.

Please notice, courses may overlap if you decide to postpone a course to a later semester.  For instance, if you deregister from a compulsory course at your third semester and plan to take it on your fifth semester, it may overlap with other fifth semester courses.

Likewise, please pay attention to the rules regarding maximum duration of studies and the demand for study progress.

Cancellation - Elective courses

Please note that courses are cancelled, if less than 15 students sign up for them. Therefore it is very important that you register for all the courses you wish to take the coming semester. You find the elective courses here or in the AU Course Catalogue.  

Restricted admission courses - rules

Every semester the department offers a number of courses with restrictions on admission. Students with the most credits (ECTS) will come first in line to the available seats. Any remaining students will be placed on a waiting list.

If a student is prevented from attending the two first lectures, he/she must send an email to the lecturer. After the two first weeks of the semester, the restricted admission courses will be closed for admission for other than persons on the waiting list.

Students from other higher education institutions:
Students enrolled at other institutions, who wish to follow courses at this department should follow the procedures for credit transfer, as well as the above described procedures.
