Be aware that an evacuation exercise is planned to take place at Geoscience (buildings 1670-1675) on 4 November, 2016 (morning).
Prepare yourself by studying the information around the house or read the booklet "Evacuation at Aarhus University" here: http://medarbejdere.au.dk/fileadmin/www.arbejdsmiljo.au.dk/evakuering/publikationer/125961_AU_evakueringsfolder_UK_270510.pdf
The exercise covers all persons present in the building complex - employees as well as students.
Looking for answers to non-study related questions concerning local department matters, use the booklet "Local guide for international students" and / or the Subject Portal – Geoscience (http://studerende.au.dk/en/studies/subject-portals/Geoscience/) under "Practical Information".
Both provide you with an overview of the department, employees, locations, facilities, rules and guidelines.
If you do not already have a copy of the booklet, contact the secretariat.
The mail system for students has been simplified. We now have just 4 lists:
These lists send to your official AU mailbox (student number@post.au.dk).
In addition to the study possibilities in room 1671-012, -014 and -024 in the basement, we remind you of the following rooms available for students:
- 1672-142: Work desks for Master students.
- 1674-334: Work desks for Bachelor students.
- 1674 3rd floor: Group room.
You find the rules for use of the rooms on Subject Portal - Geoscience > Practical information > Rooms.
For your own sake, keep the rooms neat and in order - nice for you to stay in, and nice for those who come after you.
Students can have access to the printer/copymachine in room 1671-036 (the basement).
This machine is a MyPrint /AU Library printer - and to use MyPrint you have to register as user and deposit an amount on your printing account.
Better do this in time before it's urgent. See here how: library.au.dk/en/using-the-library/myprint-print-and-copy/
If you need a driving permission for one of our department cars, you have to fill in a form BEFORE you contact Grethe in the secretariat:
Your student ID card can be activated to give access to Geoscience buildings (1670-1675).
Contact Grethe in the secretariat.

To avoid accidents everyone working in labs/doing field work have to undergo a thorough introduction from a qualified technician before starting work. The instruction should be based on the specific task and include information on use of personal protective equipment, first aid kits, emergency procedures, handling of chemicals, etc. Some instruments and certain laboratories must be booked in advance, ask the responsible technician. If you must work with toxic or carcinogenic substances and X-ray equipment, please contact laboratory manager Charlotte Rasmussen.
Please note that students are NOT covered by the university insurance. A private full-time liability and accident insurance is advisable.
In case of questions, contact Charlotte Rasmussen, charlotte.rasmussen@geo.au.dk
