Other special circumstances

If you wish to apply for additional monthly SU grant portions due to other special circumstances, the following must be sent to the Danish Students’ Grants and Loans Scheme Office at Aarhus University.

  1. Application via minSU. The receipt page must be forwarded to the Danish Students’ Grants and Loans Scheme Office together with:
  2. Your own – brief – account of the circumstances that have delayed your studies. Moreover, you are asked to state which exams you have had to postpone as well as their ECTS value.
  3. If possible, you should submit documentation for the circumstances which have caused the delay.

It usually takes eight to ten weeks for your application to be processed. The above may be subject to changes and any further documentation which may be obtained.

The possibility of granting supplementary monthly SU grant portions due to other special circumstances exists to allow supplementary monthly SU grant portions to be granted in cases where it would be completely unreasonable not to grant a supplement, for example if you are looking after a sick child with a long-term serious illness, or due to a long-term hospital admission together with your child.

It is not possible to draw up rigid guidelines on what may provide grounds for granting supplementary monthly SU grant portions due to other special circumstances. However, generally speaking, the granting of supplementary monthly SU grant portions due to special circumstances is conditional upon such circumstances being quite exceptional, i.e. a situation has arisen which must be characterised as being special.
