HOW TO APPLY FOR SU FOR YOUR MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMME - SUMMER

The Bachelor’s and the Master’s degree programmes are two separate programmes, and you therefore have to apply for SU for your Master’s degree programme.

SU during the summer holidays

If you are finishing your Bachelor’s degree programme in June (2 June - 1 July) and continuing on a Master’s degree programme from September , you are entitled to SU in the summer months of July and August.

If you do not apply for SU for these two summer months, but only from September, it will be assumed that you have chosen not to receive SU in July and August. This means that you are subject to the middle private earnings maximum amount these two months.

How to apply for SU for summer months

The earliest you can apply for SU is one month before you need SU for your Master’s degree programme. If you are finishing your Bachelor’s degree programme in July or August, you will need to extend the programme in minSU, and your SU will then continue until the month in which you finish. You must apply for SU for your Master’s degree programme from the month after you have finished your Bachelor’s degree programme. Your programme ends on the day on which you are given your last marks.

Example

You are finishing your Bachelor’s degree programme in June and need to apply for SU for your Master’s degree programme from July.

The earliest you can apply is 1 June.

  • Apply via minSU
  • Select “Anden videregående uddannelse” (Other higher education)
  • Select “Aarhus Universitet” (Aarhus University) under “Uddannelsessted” (Educational institution)
  • State that you would like SU to be disbursed from month 07 2016 (point 7)

Are you missing the monthly SU grant from July?

If you are completing your Bachelor’s degree programme in July or August and you do not have any SU left after June, the Danish Students’ Grants and Loans Scheme Office can, via minSU, award a completion loan in July and August. Afterwards, you need to apply for SU for your Master’s degree programme as described above. To be granted SU, you must be admitted to the Master’s degree programme as of 1 September. Please note that your SU will not be paid until you are enrolled on your Master’s degree programme.

Bachelor from a different educational institution

If you finish your Bachelor’s degree programme at a different educational institution, you must apply for SU for your Master’s degree programme from July. To apply, follow the procedure described above. To be granted SU, you must be admitted to and enrolled on the study programme. This means that there is a risk of your SU being delayed.
