Uddannelsens opbygning (grundpakke og specialiseringer)

Civilingeniøruddannelsen på 2 år består af:

  • Grundpakke (compulsory courses)
  • Specialisering (specialised study package)
  • Valgfag (elective courses)
  • Speciale (30 ECTS)

COMPULSORY COURSES - AUTUMN

  • Numerical Analysis in Civil Engineering 5 ECTS
    Description: In this course we will go through the theory of a number of different topics within numerical mathematics, and try to apply them on practical problems with in civil engineering. Topics: Taylor polynomial/round off errors, Least square/regression, Ordinary differential equations (incl. systems), Monte Carlo simulations.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent

  • Research Methods in Civil and Architectural Engineering 5 ECTS
    Description: Theory and method for understanding and use of research methods in architectural or civil engineering project.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent

  • Experimental Mechanics Theory (For students specializing in structural engineering, tectonic design, geotechnical engineerin) 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim of this course is to give the student insight in experimental technics and measurement systems in structural engineering.

  • Integrated Energy Design (For students specializing in integrated energy design) 5 ECTS
    Description: The objective is to make the students competent to participate in an integrated design process resulting in good indoor climate.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering with specialization in integrated energy design or equivalent

  • Advanced Planning and Scheduling of Construction Projects (For students specializing in construction management) 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim of this course is to provide a technical and comprehensive approach to planning and scheduling of complex projects

COMPULSORY COURSES - SPRING

  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim of the course will be to teach students, with an engineering and scientific background, key elements in the innovation process of existing companies and key elements in the creation of new start-up companies.
    Prerequisites: Bachelor degree in Engineering.

  • Risk and Reliability in Engineering 5 ECTS
    Description: This course aims to introduce the basic principles and fundamental techniques of risk and reliability analysis in engineering.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent

  • Structural Concepts (For students specializing in structural engineering, tectonic design, construction management, geotechnical engineering) 5 ECTS
    Description: Understanding of the physical behavior of structures is crucial in order in being able to conceive, model, analyze and design of structures. In the course structural key elements are analyzed for critically evaluation of structures.

  • Heat transfer and Mass Transport (For students specializing in integrated energy design) 5 ECTS
    Description: Low-energy building design with good indoor climate demand special attention to the design of composite construction elements and joints to avoid unnecessary heat losses and moisture problems.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent

SPECIALISED STUDY PACKAGES AUTUMN

Construction Management

Focus is on optimizing the design and execution process of construction projects, including simulation and pre-production perspectives such as the clients brief and design. Innovation, efficiency, optimization, collaboration and change management are keywords in this specialization, allowing students to act as Client Consultants and Project Managers at Contractors, Consultants, and Clients.
​Prerequisites: BSc. Degree with introductory knowledge of construction processes.

  • Innovative Construction processes 10 ECTS
    Description: This course will provide an understanding of how to plan and organize successful construction processes from idea to tendering. Focus is on user, client, organization, communication, innovation, value creation and change management.
    Prerequisites: BSc. Degree with introductory knowledge of construction processes.

  • Lean, Lean Construction & Lean Design 5 ECTS
    Description: This course will provide you with background knowledge of lean principles of e.g. Flow and value as well as more concrete tools and methodologies to implement lean in the construction industry as change management.
    Prerequisites: BSc. Degree with introductory knowledge of construction processes.

(Day) Lighting Design

The package aims to present a good general knowledge of the important design and technology aspects of architectural lighting design through lectures, applied research and design studies.
​Prerequisites: BSc in integrated energy design or equivalent

  • Daylighting Design and Lighting Simulation 10 ECTS
    Description: The course focuses on the critical assessment of the luminous environment and on ways of achieving the desired daylighting design goals
    Prerequisites: BSc in integrated energy design or equivalent.
    Exam: Oral/Report, 7-scale, Internal
  • Electric Lighting Design 5 ECTS
    Description: The course focuses on the critical assessment of the luminous environment and on ways of achieving the desired overall lighting design goals, and on an introduction into advanced lighting simulation programs and their application in lighting design.
    Prerequisites: BSc in integrated energy design or equivalent. Need to follow Daylighting Design and Lighting Simulation in parallel.

Fluid Dynamics and Building Ventilation

The course package of building ventilation will provide students the knowledge and competence of designing effective and energy-efficient ventilation systems aiming at desired air distribution, effective removal of contaminant gases and building sustainability to achieve optimal indoor air quality.
​Prerequisites: It requires the Bachelor degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural engineering and basic knowledge of fluid mechanics, building ventilation systems and heat transfer.

  • Air Physics in Building Ventilation 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim is to obtain solid competence for smart ventilation design and control to ensure optimal indoor environment.
    Prerequisites: BSC in Civil Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
    Exam: Oral/Report7-scale, Internal
  • CFD in Architectural Engineering 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim of this course is to achieve engineering skills to perform CFD simulations of flow patterns inside and outside buildings.
    Prerequisites: BSC in engineering or equivalent
    Exam: Embedded exam, 7-scale, External
  • Natural Ventilation 5 ECTS
    Description: The main objective is to enable students for design and evaluation of  natural ventilation strategies.
    Prerequisites: Fluid mechanics at the level of BSC in engineering or equivalent

Geotechnical Engineering

Focus of the package is to achieve an increased knowledge of soil behavior and soil-structure interaction through assessment of data and hands-on experience with laboratory/field testing, field monitoring and numerical analysis of geotechnical structures.
​Prerequisites: The students are required to have a bachelor degree in civil/structural engineering and basic knowledge of Geotechnical/Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics,

  • Experimental Geotechnics 10 ECTS
    Description: The aim of the course is to enable the student to gain knowledge about laboratory/field testing and field monitoring, both theoretical and experimental, and to achieve a better understanding of soil behavior and soil-structure interaction through assessment of data.
    Prerequisites: BSc/Eng in Structural or Civil Engineering including geotechnical engineering courses.

  • Numerical Analysis in Geotechnical Engineering 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim of the course is to enable the student to use different numerical methods to analyze simple and more complex geotechnical problems.
    Prerequisites: BSc/Eng in Structural or Civil Engineering including geotechnical engineering courses.
    Exam: Oral/Report, 7-scale, Internal

 

Structural Dynamics and Monitoring

The aim of this package is to provide students with the necessary tools to make accurate calculations and informed decisions regarding the dynamic response of structures to all forms of external loading. Furthermore, students should understand the concepts of structural control and monitoring and be able to perform and decipher basic structural health monitoring.
​Prerequisites: The students are required to have a bachelor degree in civil engineering with a specialization in structural engineering.

  • Modal Analysis 5 ECTS
    Description: The objective of the course is to introduce the students to the main modal testing approaches, Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) and Operational Modal Analysis (OMA). EMA and OMA are vibration-based testing techniques through which the system properties of a given structure can be estimated.
    Prerequisites: Need to be following Structural Dynamics.
    Exam: Oral based on student portfolio, 7-scale, Internal
  • Structural Dynamics 10 ECTS
    Description: Theoretical and applied structural dynamics covering frequency and time domain approaches for single and multiple degree of freedom systems and structures, subjected to external dynamic loads, such as wind and earthquake.
    Prerequisites: BSc Degree in engineering or equivalent.
    Exam: Oral/Report, 7-scale, Internal

Tectonic Design

Ambitious building designs require extensive multi-disciplinary engineering skills for generating novel building designs. ​
Prerequisites: It requires a Bachelor degree in Civil or Architectural engineering and basic knowledge of building or architectural design.

  • Computational Design 5 ECTS
    Description: Examination of the architectural form and performance based design process using parametric and generative modelling.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent
    Exam: Oral/Report, 7-scale, Internal
  • Form-finding in Building Design 5 ECTS
    Description: Introduction to numerical methods for optimal solutions of a building design in relation to engineering performance.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent. Need to follow Computational Design
    Exam: Oral/Report, 7-scale, Internal
  • Tectonics in Engineering and Archuctural design 5 ECTS
    Description: Change the view of structures as a purely technical element of architecture into an architech. element that is thoroughly integrated.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent. Need to follow Computational Design

SPECIALISED STUDY PACKAGES - SPRING

Indoor Climate and Energy

The primary reason for human kind to make buildings is to achieve a healthy, productive and comfortable environment for long term stay – a good indoor environment. A good indoor environment is functional, aesthetically pleasing and have a good indoor climate. This research group focus on research and teaching in methods, tools and technologies for energy-efficient design and operation of buildings with high quality of indoor climate (i.e. thermal comfort, high air quality and good daylighting conditions).
​Prerequisites: BSc in engineering, or equivalent, with a substantial degree of specialization related to building physics (heat transfer and moisture transport) and building services (heating, ventilation, air  conditioning and cooling).

  • Energy-efficient Building Envelope Design 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim of the course is to qualify students to participate in the development of low-energy solutions for the building envelope.
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent
    Exam: Embedded exam, 7-scale, Internal
  • Indoor Climate 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim is to qualify students to collect, analyze, and evaluate data related to aspects of indoor thermal comfort and air quality
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent

  • Simulation of Building Energy Systems 5 ECTS
    Description: The aim of this course is to enable students to perform advanced simulation of buildings and their HVAC systems
    Prerequisites: BSc in engineering or equivalent

Structural Analysis and Concrete Structures

Students in structural engineering must know how structures can be designed using physically transparent models. Energy principles and the theory of plasticity offers such approaches, and a central part of these  course therefore regards the application of the theories and understanding of the inherent advantages as well as limitations.
​Prerequisites: The students are required to have a bachelor degree in civil engineering with a specialization in structural engineering.

  • Design of Steel Structures 5 ECTS
    Description: The course aims to give the structural engineering student a fundamental understanding of the behavior of steel as a structural material and how steel structures can be designed using physically transparent models.
    Prerequisites: Need to be following Limit Analysis and Design and Concrete Structures
    Exam: Written, 7-scale, External
  • Limit Analysis and Design of Concrete Structures 10 ECTS
    Description: The course introduces the student to the basis of the theory of plasticity and the energy principles. Reinforced concrete is the most commonly used construction material in structural engineering, Therefore, the course focuses on fundamental understanding of the behavior of this composite material and how reinforced concrete structure can be designed applying the theory of plasticity and the energy principles.
    Prerequisites: BSc in structural engineering or equivalent
    Exam: Oral, 7-scale, Internal

Speciale

Speciale/afgangsprojekt skrives i samarbejde med en af forskningsgrupperne og forudsætter, at man har fulgt de tre fag indenfor den valgte specialisering. Specialet tæller 30 ECTS.

Alle afgangsprojekter skal godkendes af lederen af den relevante forskningsgruppe. De følgende kriterier danner grundlag for udpegning af hovedvejlederen:

  1. Hovedvejlederen skal være tilknyttet CAE (Civil and Architectural Engineering) sektionen ved Institut for Ingeniørvidenskab
  2. Hovedvejlederen skal have en PhD-grad
  3. Hovedvejlederen skal være en aktiv forsker (have publiceret inden for de sidste to år)

I særlige tilfælde kan andet blive besluttet.

Erhvervslivet efterspørger ingeniører, der kan, tænke helhedsorienteret, udvikle projekter i et tværfagligt samar-bejde med arkitekter og designere, agere i en verden, hvor byggeriet udvikler sig løbende formmæssigt og håndtere det stigende krav som design af byggeri kræver til indarbejdelse af energi og miljøhensyn. Som civilingeniør i byggeri er du rustet til at møde disse udfordringer.

Som civilingeniør i Byggeri får du følgende kompetencer:

  • Du behersker centrale elementer inden for byggeri og har detaljeret viden om centrale discipliner, metoder, teorier og teknologier inden for Byggeri.
  • Du kan selvstændigt planlægge, lede og gennemføre projekter og anvende resultaterne af disse i en fagligt relateret beslutningsproces.
  • Du kan vurdere anvendeligheden og hensigtsmæssigheden af teoretiske, eksperimentelle og praktiske metoder til analyse og løsning af faglige spørgsmål og problemstillinger.
  • Du kan selvstændigt og kritisk strukturere egen kompetenceudvikling. 
  • Du er i stand til systematisk og kritisk at sætte dig ind i nye fagområder. 
  • Du kan formidle og kommunikere faglige spørgsmål og problemstillinger i såvel et videnskabeligt som et industrielt forum.
  • Du kan på naturvidenskabelig og teknisk baggrund indgå i konstruktivt samarbejde og løsning af faglige problemstillinger.

Med en civilingeniøruddannelse i byggeri kan du få arbejde i virksomheder såsom rådgivende ingeniørfirmaer, entreprenørfirmaer, ejendomsselskaber og i bygningselementindustrien. Du kan beskæftige dig med projekter inden for design, modellering, test, udvikling og styring.

Forskeruddannelse

Har du lyst og evner, kan du efter endt civilingeniøruddannelse søge om optagelse på forskeruddannelsen, hvor du arbejder frem mod en ph.d.-grad. På forskeruddannelsen går du i gang med et forskningsprojekt og uddannes gradvist gennem kurser og personlig vejledning til at blive forsker.
