The academic year

The academic year is divided into two semesters as follows:

• Autumn semester: September - January
• Spring semester: February - June

Examinations

Examinations are held in December/January and in June.

Holidays

Besides the national holidays, the University has a long summer vacation in July and August, and a brief autumn break during the first two days of week 42.

Autumn Semester 2015

1 September 2015 to 31 January 2016 (including examination period December/January)

Holidays

• 12 October to 16 October both days included (Autumn holiday)
• 21 December to 3 January both days included (Christmas holiday)

Spring Semester 2016

1 February 2016 to 30 June 2016 (including examination period May/June)

Holidays

• 21 March to 28 March both days included (Easter holiday)
• 1 May (public holidays)
• 5 to 6 May (Ascension Day)
• 16 May (Whitsun Monday)
• 5 June (Constitution Day)
