Be Nice Not Træls

Safe, inclusive learning environments are important, and everyone at AU has a responsibility to do their part. So we treat each other with respect, consideration and decency. Together, the Students’ Council and AU are focusing on the good learning environment with the campaign Be Nice Not Træls.

We all have boundaries, but they don’t all look the same. It’s not always easy to know where someone else’s limits are, or how to share your own. So, stay aware, check in, and respect what people need. And remember that it’s cool to speak up – for yourself and for others. Together, we respect everyone’s boundaries.

It’s not always easy to keep up with study life, family life, and social life. Remember to take a breather and check in on the people around you. Do you keep an eye on how everyone is doing? How would you help a friend? And would you reach out if you needed support? Together, we take care of each other.

Being a student at Aarhus University means living your best life – exactly as you are. There’s no single way to be. What would the world look like if we were all the same? When was the last time you had a conversation with someone totally different from you? Together, we are different.

Be Nice Not Træls*

*The Danish word “træls” can be used to describe objects, actions, and even people - and it’s not something you want to be. So how can we ensure a great academic and social
environment for everyone? We are all a part of this community, so what do you want your contribution to be?

Together, we are nice.
