Latest updates (March 5 2020)

  • 5/3: Message from Chinese University of Hong Kong: It is with regret that we announce postponement of the CUHK International Summer School July and August Sessions until Summer 2021. The difficult decision was made after careful assessment and close monitoring of the current global risk concerns on COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) outbreaks. It is therefore not possible to apply for CUHK in 2020, we apologize if CUHK was your first priority!

  • 5/3 Update on Humboldt Berlin: The agreement is now settled and all practicalities (almost) cleared. So, we are able to send three nominated AU students to HU Berlin!

  • 5/3 Update on ESADE Barcelona: We still hope to finalize the agreement before our deadline 15/3. We are very positive that the agreement will go through for 2020.

  • 5/3 Regarding the general Corona outbreak and possible impact on Summer Universities around the world and specifically in Asia; Please keep yourself updated on AU’s guidelines here: https://medarbejdere.au.dk/en/corona/

  • 5/3 Update regarding the requirement of having a pre-approval before March 15th; we have updated the application guidelines after being in contact with the respective boards of studies and partner universities;

Some students are not able to get a pre-approval before march 15th, due to circumstances outside their control – such as e.g partner universities who does not have available literature lists before closer to course start or due to the lack of elaborate course syllabus at this point. Also due to the different procedures at the different faculties, we have come to realize that not all students have equal acces to getting a pre-approval on equal terms with. So, in case you do not have a pre-approval before March 15th, you will not be disfavored.

We will allocate the seats based on GPA and an assessment of the likelihood that you can get credits at the respective university with your AU background.

So, before March 15th you can upload either one of these three documents

a)       A pre-approval

b)       A receipt that you have applied for a pre-approval

c)       This intended course selection form, if you are not able to apply for a pre-approval in due time

All applicants with either one of these documents in their application will be considered equally and allocated based on GPA and the expected likelihood of you getting a pre-approval (if you don’t have one by March 15th).

We have also updated the FAQ with information on this.

  • 18/2: Requirement regarding grade point average for King's College is now confirmed and you need minimum 7 on the Danish scale to be able to apply. We have specified the language requirements for applying to King's as well. You may have to take an English test if you do not meet the following exemptions; You took English as an A level in high school or study in a degree programme predominantly taught in English or hold a valid English test. You can take this test after you know whether or not you get a seat and the test can be taken in Aarhus.

  • 14/2: Unfortunately we will not have an agreement with Vrije in Amsterdam for summer exchange. In turn they offer a 250 EUR discount to AU students so that a 3 ECTS course will cost 900 EUR. Most of you will probably need two of those to be able to get a credit transfer that makes any sense. For this pupose you can also apply for the Danish State Scholarship for Study Abroad to cover some of the expenses. We are sorry if you counted on Vrije as a free option. If it still is your absolute number one priority, you should still consider applying as a fee paying student directly with them and it will not necessarily be super expensive ( 900-1800 EUR minus possible Danish State Scholarship for Study Abroad). Read more about going out on your own and the scholarship here.
  • 14/2: In exchange we now have four seats at LUISS Rome, not just two as first announced.

  • 14/2: If you have trouble finding detailed course descriptions for courses at the universities, which you need for the preapprovals, then try to write to the university and ask them if they have them. Often they do, and if not from 2020, then they most likely have one from 2019 which from our experience will do just fine, as major changes to a course running year after year are rare. If you cannot get through to a university, write us as email at summeruniversity@at.dk and we will then see if we can. But please do try to write to them yourself first. Most of them are happy to help!

  • 14/2: There are unfortunately no updates regarding Barcelona and Berlin yet, but we still believe in it and we hope for clarification soon. We have more or less an oral agreement with both universities and the rest is bureaucracy which we hope will be settled soon.
