Joint study programmes are close and binding cooperation between Danish and foreign educational institutions, where two or more institutions jointly offer a Master's degree programme. You will typically take your first year at AU and then the second year of a foreign university in the cooperation - or vice versa.
Joint study programmes can be offered as either joint degrees or double degrees. Joint degrees result in one joint exam certificate issued jointy by the universities. For a double degree, you will receive a Master's degree from Aarhus University as well as the partner University at which part of the education took place.
Joint study programmes have the advantage that they unite stays abroad with the quality assurance that lies in the fact that the programme is recognised in Denmark. In addition, stays at institutions in different countries are a natural and well-organised element in study programmes.
As a student, you are included in a well-planned, international study programme offered by leading universities in Europe. A joint study programme gives you a broader range of opportunities to specialise in one field within your subject area, as you will be working in some of the best research environments within your particular subject areas. Finally, you will learn about a different study culture, and you will get contacts that you can use in your future working life, whether it be abroad or in Denmark.
