New semester package in entrepreneurship for MSc students

MSc students now have the opportunity to choose a semester package in the elective semester consisting of three courses in the field of entrepreneurship, which together correspond to 30 ECTS credits. The combination of courses is based on correlation and is to create optimal learning and meaningful synergy for the students. The registration deadline is 15 June 2012!

In co-operation with CEI (Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation), the research team iCARE at the Department of Business Administration has created an academically strong semester package in entrepreneurship corresponding to 30 ECTS credits, which will already be available in the autumn semester of 2012!

The semester package consists of the following courses:

  • Entrepreneurship Methods: (5 ECTS)
This course introduces the students to entrepreneurial methods and enables them to apply these methods in relevant contexts. Course coordinator: Helle Neergaard
  • Entrepreneurship Theory (10 ECTS)
This course introduces the students to entrepreneurial theory, which is to prepare the ground for theoretical reflection on the various entrepreneurial approaches to the world. Course coordinator: Steffen Korsgaard
  • Entrepreneurship Process (15 ECTS)
This course is the most comprehensive course in the semester package. The students go through an entrepreneurial process, in which they learn to be entrepreneurial by “doing” entrepreneurship. Course coordinator: Per Blenker

Combination options

The strength of this combination of courses is that the students become familiar with entrepreneurial methods and theory as well as entrepreneurial process. Therefore, the most obvious and optimal choice is to take all three courses as they are interrelated.

It is also possible to choose either the method or theory course separately or just the two courses together. However, it is very difficult to take only the process course without the method and theory courses. This option is therefore not recommended.

Registration for the semester package in the autumn semester of 2012

The registration deadline is 15 June 2012! You can read more about the three electives in the Course Catalogue.

Request for greater academic correlation granted

At present, the government is concentrating its efforts on entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurial teaching in higher education. Earlier in 2012, Morten Østergaard, Minister for Research, Innovation and Higher Education, stated in his report "Greater correlation in the higher education system" that "A new innovation strategy must focus on how innovation and entrepreneurship are to be integrated into all higher education programmes."

The new semester package for MSc students seeks to meet this vision, and in future, the aim is to offer the semester package to as many students as possible at Aarhus University.
