– the new social online platform at ASB

The semester start at ASB will be atypical this year as the school – in collaboration with Studenterlauget and ASB Studenterforum – will be launching a new medium for all ASB students in September 2008. The purpose is to gather both bachelor and master degree students on this new user interface which will focus primarily on social activities incorporating academic elements.

ASByou is for students and managed by students. You can help develop our new platform. Access it and create your own profile. Test the beta version and send us your comments.

More info on ASBYOU

As a user, you can profile yourself via selective selection and deselection of various applications on your individual profile which, among other things, include interest groups across study fields, photo sharing, association activities, event calendars, forums, gadgets etc. You as a student can discuss academic topics for your bachelor or master thesis, share knowledge about various subjects and lecturers, tell others about your exchange abroad, share photos from last weekend's barbecue party, obtain specific information on events that you have signed up for, keep up-to-date on the initiatives launched by various associations etc. – the possibilities are endless and only you, the user, set the limit.

In order to meet the students' wishes and requirements for a functional and qualitative user platform, empirical data have been gathered via various focus group interviews with ASB students. There is no doubt that the users can/must contribute to creating and developing ASByou as they will be the daily users of the new medium. Add to this the fact that the activity they create serves to generate even more activity. It is therefore an important requirement that the platform is developed by the users.

As mentioned, ASByou will be ready by semester start 2008, when all new students will be introduced to the new medium during the Freshers' Week as well as the MSc/MA (LSP) intro week. Plans thus are to launch the project with more than 1,500 new faces and profiles from day one. Present students, however, have the advantage of being able to check out the beta version right now at http://asbyou.ning.com/ and thus becoming some of the first users on ASByou.

A social user platform which is to meet your requirements and preferences and which has been created by students for students.
