Transition from MACC to CM SC in 2020

If you have applied to the MACC in 2019, but would like to commence your study at the MSc in Strategic Communication (CM SC), there is a solution allowing you to do so in 2020.
This solution applies only for students holding a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management Communication from Aarhus University.

This is what you should do:

  1. apply to the MACC by 1 March
  2. follow the MACC programme during the academic year 2019-2020 with some changes (choose option 1 or 2, see below)
  3. apply to the CM SC before 1 March 2020 and get a credit transfer of the courses completed in 2019-2020.
  4. Finish your Master’s degree programme as planned in 2021.

Transition from MACC to CM SC in 2020

As the CM SC is required to be very similar to the MACC, there are several ways in which you can make the transition from the MACC to the CM SC. These include taking some of the new courses as part of a semester abroad or summer school and ensuring that you get the necessary credit transfer to make the transition. However, we have two suggested options that can make the transition as smooth as possible:

Option 1:

  • Autumn 2019: Take all MACC courses as planned
  • Spring 2020: Replace ‘Stakeholder Relations’ with ‘Strategic Brand Management
  • Autumn 2020: Take ‘Organisational Theory’ as an elective (either alongside a 20 ECTS internship or with other electives) OR find a similar course abroad if you’re going on an exchange stay

Option 2:

  • Autumn 2019: Take MACC courses but replace ‘Corporate Communication’ with ‘Organisational Theory’.  Please contact Study Administrator Gitte Lilliendahl Nielsen (kandidat.bss@au.dkno later than 8 July 2019 stating that you want to replace the course ‘Corporate Communication’ with the course ‘Organisational Theory’ in the autumn of 2019. Please remember to state your name and student registration number.
  • Spring 2020: Replace ‘Stakeholder Relations’ with ‘Strategic Brand Management
  • Autumn 2020: You only need to take 20 ECTS (e.g. Internship) OR take 20 ECTS electives abroad
  • Spring 2021: Take ‘Corporate Communication’ alongside your Master’s Thesis (i.e. you will take 40 ECTS that semester).
