Application to AU

Online application

You must submit your application for an exchange online. In the online system you can specify the universities you want to apply to, and you can upload the requested enclosures.

The application module opens approx. one month before the application deadline. The required enclosures must be submitted by the same deadlines as above.

Find information about AU's partner universities in the database AU GO. Always read the descriptions of the universities you want to apply to very carefully. It is also important that you make sure that the selected universities offer subjects that are relevant to you and your degree programme. Also, remember to check whether some of the universities demand documentation for your language skills.

Please note that you increase your chances of being granted an exchange place abroad if you apply broadly. We recommend that you apply to at least three different universities.

The application to AU is for internal use only. If you are granted an exchange place, you will also be required to apply to the host university. You will automatically receive more information about this by email.

Under Destinations in the left side menu, you will be able to find a list of available positions.

Attachments to application

In your online application, you must upload a number of attachement. All attachments must be uploaded in a single PDF file.

Mandatory attachment - Students applying for joint allocation

If you and a fellow student wish to study abroad together it is possible to apply for joint allocation. Each of you must apply individually in AU GO choosing the exact same priorities. In your AU GO application form you must choose "yes" in the "joint allocation" box and also indiate the name of your co-applicant. In addition to this you must complete and upload the joint application form:

Mandatory attachment - Oecon-students going on exchange during their master's degree, but applying during their bachelor's degree:

Unfortunately, it is not technically possible to apply for exchange positions available for cand.oecon students, while you are enrolled as a bac.oecon student. Because of this you are required to upload a document listing all the universities you wish to apply for in order of priority. In the application form in AU GO you must choose as your one and only priority "Exchange University Master Oecon" in Denmark.

Optional attachment - Documentation of language proficiency

If you have already taken a TOEFL, IELTS or other Language proficiency test, you are free to attach this to your application. Only once applying for admission to the host university will you be required to provide a Language proficiency test. In AU GO you can see which universities require documentation of language proficiency.

Allocation of exchange positions

Exchange positions are allocated according to GPA shortly after the application deadline. If you have any grades awarded by AU, these will be the basis for your GPA. Master students who have not yet passed any courses at AU must submit their bachelor's diploma and the GPA from this degree will be applied.

In order to be allocated a position you must also live up to the following requirements:

  • You must be able to transfer between 20 ECTS and 30 ECTS electives from your study abroad.  It is your responsibilty to ensure this and to be aware of this before you sign up for any additional electives at AU, including AU Summer University. If you are not able to transfer at least 20 ECTS your exchange position will be annulled and your nomination to the partner university withdrawn.
