Submission deadlines for the Master's thesis

The first submission deadline for those starting the Master's thesis in the:

  • Spring semester: 15 June
  • Autumn semester: 15 January

If the submission date is a Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, the deadline is the first working day before the deadline.

How to submit your Master's thesis

To submit your Master's thesis, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Upload your Master's thesis in WISEflow

You have to submit your Master's thesis through WISEflow - you will be registered for the flow well in advance of your submission deadline and you will receive a notification from WISEflow.

Please notice, that you can not withdraw your thesis, once you have submitted the thesis and the electronic version is the binding version. Therefore it is very important, that you upload and submit your thesis correctly.

The flow is made as a group flow. If you haven't tried to upload a paper in a group flow, please follow the guideline.

Have you written your thesis on your own, you have to upload by creating a one-person group.

Step 2: Send your Master's thesis to mastertheses@ps.au.dk

Create a PDF file with your Master's thesis:

  • Save the PDF file by the file name 'studentnumber_name' (e.g.  '20020007_jamesbond')

Create an email:

  • State your student number in the subject field of the email.
  • Please state in the email whether your thesis is confidential or not. The thesis will be made available through AU Library unless the thesis is confidential.

Send to: mastertheses@ps.au.dk

Submission of your Master’s thesis before the submission deadline

If you would like to submit your Master's thesis earlier than your submission deadline, please note the following:

  • If you submit 14 days or less before the date of your submission deadline, your Master's thesis will be assessed according to the stipulated submission deadline.
  • If you submit more than 14 days before the specified submission deadline, your Master's thesis will be sent for assessment as quickly as possible. The deadline for assessment will be up to six weeks from the date of submission. When you submit the thesis you must also send an email to Susanne Vang  (susanne@ps.au.dk) and to kandidat.bss@au.dk about early submission of your thesis.
  • If the Master’s thesis WiseFlow is not open when you want to submit your thesis, please send an email to the study administration, as they can assist you with this. Send your email to kandidat.bss@au.dk

Especially for early submission during the summer period - the second examination attempt:

As a rule, there is no assessment of theses, papers and exams in July. Individual deadlines for evaluation of early submission must therefore be planned in advance. The assessment deadline will be four weeks + the month of July.

If you do not submit your thesis within the deadline

If the thesis is not handed in before the deadline, you have used one examination attempt. You will automatically be registered for your second examination attempt.

You must contact your supervisor within the first 14 days after the submission deadline and, in collaboration with your supervisor, prepare and agree on a modified problem statement.

It is your responsibility to contact your supervisor to initiate this process.

You have a new deadline of 3 months to submit the thesis, starting from the initial deadline.

The same procedure will follow if you do not submit your thesis within the deadline of your second examination attempt.

If you fail your thesis

If you fail the thesis, one examination attempt has been used.

You must contact your supervisor within the first 14 days after the date of assessment and, in collaboration with your supervisor, prepare and agree on a modified problem statement.

It is your responsibility to contact your supervisor to initiate this process.

You have a new deadline of 3 months to submit the thesis, beginning from the date of assessment for the first attempt.

The same procedure will follow if you fail the second attempt.
