Handing in your thesis

 

This is how you hand in your thesis:

1. Your thesis must be submitted through WISEflow

2. You have to send your thesis to mastertheses@ps.au.dk 

(3. You must hand in one paper copy of your thesis.) NB! Until 1 March 2021 you do not hand in a paper copy of your thesis (due to COVID-19).

Please notice, that you have to hand in both the paper copies and the electronical version of your thesis in time. Otherwise your thesis is not submitted correctly.

1. WISEflow

You have to submit your thesis through WISEflow - the flow will be open and you will be registered for the flow in good time and you will receive a notification from WISEflow.

Please notice, that you can not withdraw your thesis, once you have submitted the thesis and the electronic version is the binding version.Therefore it is very important, that you upload and submit your thesis correct

If the submission date is a Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, the deadline is the first working day before the deadline. Deadline for uploading your thesis is 12.00 on the submission date.

The flow is made as a group flow. If you haven't tried to upload a paper in a group flow, please follow the guideline.
Have you written your thesis on your own, you have upload by creating a one-person group.

You must also send you thesis as one pdf-file to this email address: mastertheses@ps.au.dk 
Remember to state your student number in the mails subject field. 
Please state in the email whether your thesis is confidential or not.
The thesis will be made available through AU Library unless the thesis is confidential. 

(3. One paper copy)

NB! Until 1 March 2021 you do not hand in a paper copy of your thesis (due to COVID-19).

The paper copy of the completed thesis must be handed in at the Department of Political Science, Aarhus University, Bartholins Allé 7, buil. 1331-119, 8000 Aarhus C. The copy can be handed in by no later than 14.00 on the submission date.

Remember to attach two copies of this form: Aflevering af speciale/kandidatafhandling    

Register the companies/organisations you collaborate with

In order to improve your career prospects, we need to collect information on the companies/organisations that you may collaborate with.  

Once you have registered for your Master’s thesis, you will receive a form in your AU mailbox. The form contains a few questions regarding your collaboration with the company/organisation.  

You must complete the form regardless of whether you are collaborating with a company/organisation or not.

Writing period and submission

Spring semester: Your writing period is 4,5 months from the 1st of February. You must submit the master thesis no later than the 15th of June.

Autumn semester: Your writing period is 4,5 months from the 1st of September. You must submit the master thesis no later than the 15th of January.

NB! If the submission date is a Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, the deadline is the first working day before the deadline.

If you do not submit your thesis within the deadline

If the thesis is not handed in before the deadline, you have used one examination attempt. You will automatically be registered for your second examination attempt.
In cooperation with your supervisor, you must make a modified problem statement and plan for your thesis.

You have a new deadline of three months to submit the thesis, starting from the initial deadline.

If you do not submit the thesis before the new deadline, you have used the second out of the three attempts to pass the thesis. You will automatically be registered for your third and last examination attempt.
In cooperation with your supervisor, you must again make a modified problem statement and plan for your thesis.

You have one final deadline of 3 months to submit the thesis, starting from the second deadline. 

If you fail your thesis

If you fail the thesis, one examination attempt has been used.
You will then have to prepare a modified problem statement which must be approved by the supervisor.

You have a new deadline of 3 months to submit the thesis, beginning from the date of assessment for the first attempt.

The same procedure will follow if you fail the second attempt.
