Today, your experience on your CV counts more than ever in the competition for the good jobs after graduation. An international traineeship is a unique opportunity to work in an exciting workplace and gain valuable experience as well as an international network. In addition to looking good on your CV, a traineeship is a way of putting your career plans to the test, and establishing whether your qualifications match requirements.
You can apply for an Erasmus+ grant if you are doing a traineeship in one of the Erasmus+ countries.
You cannot apply for an Erasmus+ grant if your traineeship takes place in Denmark, Greenland or the Faroe Islands. See the list of Erasmus+ countries to the right.

Please note that you cannot receive an Erasmus+ grant for traineeships with EU institutions or organizations that administrer EU-programmes.
Return to home applicants are not eligible - if the traineeship is located in the country of your nationality, you are not eligible for the Erasmus+ Traineeship grant.
Applicants who receive support for monthly expenses from their traineeship will likewise have lower priority if the amount of applications exceeds available funds.
PhD students at Aarhus University cannot apply for an Erasmus+ Traineeship grant.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the required insurance coverage during your Erasmus+ traineeship.
Make sure to bring the European Health Insurance Card. EU-citizens can request the Blue Health Insurance card in Denmark (Danish CPR-number required) on Borger.dk.
As the European Health Insurance does not necessarily provide full coverage for all health-related expenses and is also not a travel insurance, we recommend that you take out travel and health insurance for the entire duration of your stay abroad. Make sure that the insurance you take our also includes liability and accident insurance. Accident insurance covers situations where you are injured yourself, and the liability insurance covers if you cause injury to another person or property belonging to others.
In case your host company/organisation has a business accident and business liability insurance, we recommend that you ask them to be covered by their insurance. The host company / organisation must confirm such coverage in Section C of your Learning Agreement.
If you are not eligible for coverage by the traineeship company's insurance, you must take on the required insurances yourself.
PLEASE NOTE that it is not possible to be insured by Aarhus University.
The grant amounts to approx. 640 euro per month.
You are ineligible for the Erasmus+ grant (and your SU) if you receive a salary during your traineeship. Payment for certain documented expenses in relation to a traineeship, however, such as transportation, rent or telephone, may be permitted.
Always inform the SU Office regarding your traineeship if you receive SU. Read more about the rules and regulations here: SU and salary during traineeship
