Withdrawing from exam

As a professional Master’s student, you can withdraw from an exam up to one week before the first day of the exam.

Please note: If you have withdrawn from an exam, it is not possible to register for a re-exam in the same examination period, because this requires that you have already used an examination attempt.

Have you withdrawn from an exam and would like to register again?

If you have withdrawn from an exam and you would like to re-register to take the exam in a semester in which you did not follow the relevant course, you should register in the following periods:

  • 15 - 28 September for the exam that usually takes place in December/January
  • 15 - 28 February for the exam that usually takes place in May / June

Register via STADS, which you can access via mit.au.dk (Self-service).

NOTE: If you withdraw from the first examination attempt for an exam, you can only register for the exam again the next time the course and the ordinary exam is offered - usually a year later.

Have you used an examination attempt and would like to take the re-examination in the same semester?

If you do not pass the ordinary exam, which takes place at the end of your teaching, you can register for the re-examination. You can find the re-examination date and the deadline for registration in the exam timetable. Please register for the re-examination via the STADS system on mit.au.dk (Self-service).

Have you used an examination attempt and would like to take the re-examination in another semester?

IT systems and Aarhus University

Here is an overview of the IT systems that are used at Aarhus University. You will need to know how to use these systems.

As a student, it is important that you have access to the following three systems:

mit.au.dk (Self-service) - post.au.dk - Blackboard

Useful information

Aarhus University only communicates via AU mail (post.au.uk), so it is important that you use this email when you write to us.

You can access all three of the IT systems by following these four steps:

  1. Log in to mit.au.dk with your NemID (select “NemID login” and not “Aarhus University login”)
  2. Create your password on mit.au.dk
  3. Log in to post.au.dk with your AU ID followed by @uni.au.dk (not your student registration number) and the password you have just created on mit.au.dk. You can find your AU ID by logging in to mit.au.dk (it is displayed next to your name)
  4. You can now log in to Blackboard with the same login details you use for mit.au.dk.

Please see the following visual guides:

You can log in to Blackboard in the same way as you log in to  mit.au.dk

Student ID card and access

Your student ID card is your identification card when you are on campus and works as a key card that grants access to AU buildings outside of standard opening hours.

When you start at AU, it is important that you receive a student ID card. You can only receive a student ID card once you have been enrolled as a student at Aarhus University and have been assigned a student registration number. Enrolment of students takes place continuously after admission.

Withdrawal from study programme and refunds

Withdrawal

If you wish to withdraw from your study programme, you need to withdraw in writing to the administration at Further and continuing education, Arts. Please do this by sending an email to: evu.arts@au.dk.

Please note: If you are enrolled on the whole degree programme and withdraw, you will then be classified as a single module student. See the deadlines for registration for courses under Teaching - Admissions on the individual course / module websites.

Refund of tuition fees

In the absence of any statement to the contrary in your letter of admission, your tuition fees can be refunded if we receive your written notice of withdrawal before your first teaching session and no later than 1 September (for teaching in autumn semesters) and no later than 1 February (for teaching in spring semesters). Once the teaching has started, it is no longer possible to refund your tuition fees. However, if you can document exceptional circumstances, you can apply for a refund after the teaching has begun.
