7,226 applicants offered student place at AU
It looks like 2014 will also be a year with a large number of new bachelor students at Aarhus University. However, some programs still have vacant studentships.
Last night, 7,226 applicants were informed that they have been accepted into at Aarhus University. Thus, the number of new bachelor students this year is nearly the same as in 2013, when 7,276 applicants were offered admission.
There has been a large number of highly qualified applicants to Aarhus University's degree programs, and they have applied wide and varied, meaning that many of them have been offered admission. We are looking forward to challenging the new students, and offering them a chance of developing themselves, enabling them to help further develop the labour market in particular, and society as a whole, says Berit Eika, prorector for education.
She points to the fact that the number of new students being accepted into Arhus University's Bachelor's degree has been increasing for a number of years, and that many of the degree programs have reached the limit as to how many there is room for:
Quality is top priority to us, and we do not accept more students into the individual programmes than we have resources for. However, the large interest also means that we often have to reject a number of qualified applicants. I hope that many of those who have been rejected will contact our student counsellors, in order to inquire about those programmes that still have a few vacant studentships.
Talent programmes to continue.
Aarhus University's pilot project with natural science talent programs will continue this year. This means, among other things, that those new students of physics, who are up for even more challenges, will have the opportunity of joining extra courses. The talent programme at physics was founded in 2013. In nano science, special courses for talented students with an interest in innovation have been established.
It is possible to apply for vacant studentships in August
Out of all the programmes offered by Aarhus University, 33 still have a few vacant studentships. This goes for, for example, German, chemistry, and several engineering programmes (that accept new students during the winter), such as mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. Furthermore, some of the programmes offered by AU Herning also have vacant studentships.

The student counsellors are able to answer all kinds of questions regarding admission, and about applying for vacant studentships. The student counsellors can be reached on all weekdays, either by phone, by e-mail, or you can turn up personally.
