On 5 June - the UN's World Environment Day and the Danish Constitution Day - Circle U. zooms in on climate and sustainability. In 7 webinars hosted by researchers and students across the alliance, you can explore different aspects of the environment and sustainability.
You can also visit an online exhibition on climate change featuring photos taken by students and staff across the alliance, which consists of AU and 8 other European universities (read more about Circle U.).
The webinars
9:30-13:00: Citizen science: rethinking research with and for society (Hybrid)
This seminar will explore how citizen science can enrich research and enhance our understanding of key challenges, particularly environmental ones.
Through presentations and interactive discussions, the opportunities and challenges of this approach will be brought to light. A unique opportunity to discover, debate, and envision the future of collaborative research.
10:00-11:30: CUBES Circle – A virtual visit to our circular research facility (via Zoom)
In the CUBES Circle research facility, units of plant, fish, and insect production are linked to achieve high resource and energy efficiency. In our webinar, we take you on a virtual tour of our facility and offer insights into our applied research in circular economy.
11:00-12:00: Tracking human responses to climate change through bioarchaeology (via Teams)
Through the physical remains of our ancestors, we may better understand the physiological health effects of climate change in the present. Let’s explore how human bioarchaeology can provide new insights into the relationship between climate change, human health, and adaptation.
13:00-14:30: Rooftop solar and energy communities in the Danish green transition (via Zoom)
Curious about solar energy? Discover how rooftop solar and energy communities can bring benefits to the local community. Join researchers from Aarhus University on insights on European energy transition scenarios, rooftop solar PV benefits, and community solar projects.
13:00-15:30: Sustainable personal hygiene
This student-led workshop explores the importance and feasibility of sustainability when it comes to personal hygiene. Step by step, participants will gain knowledge and new ideas.
14:00-15:30: Science is ignored: Why are we still training future (climate) scientists? (Hybrid - online og i Berlin)
If scientific facts on climate change don’t drive action, should scientists remain neutral or take a stand? Is a teaching strike an appropriate response – or what remains when urgency meets indifference? Join us to discuss the responsibilities and limits of science in times of crisis.
16:00-16.30: Recycle with Circle U.: Find out how our household waste creates energy! (via Teams)
What happens to the waste we don’t sort? Join Xiaofeng Guo, Circle U. Climate Chair at Université Paris Cité, on our YouTube channel to find out.
