Hungry? The canteens on campus are now open again

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, many of the canteens at Aarhus University have been closed for most of the spring and summer. But now they’re chopping, frying and braising again – so students and staff no longer have to go hungry on campus.

As one AU employee tweeted during the lockdown this past spring, “It’s gotten to the point that I miss uni so much that I’ve started making meatballs like they do at the maths canteen.”  And they were probably not alone in missing the good food served at AU’s canteens.

But fortunately, there’s good news for everyone who’s gotten tired of bag lunches – all the canteens are open again. You’ll find details about the canteens in Aarhus, Emdrup, Foulum, Herning, Roskilde and Slagelse on AU’s website.

New management at several canteens on the Aarhus campus

Earlier this year, Jespers Torvekøkken was awarded the contract to run the Nobel Park Canteen and Bakery, the Nobel Park Deli and the canteen at the School of Dentistry. This was the result of a call for tenders for the canteen operations formerly offered by Studenterhusfonden. Jespers Torvekøkken will also continue to operate the social sciences canteen.

At the same time, the canteens in Stakladen and Dales Café have been closed.
