The two-day opening celebration in the University City is just under two months away. Now Aarhus University, FEAS and the Aarhus University Research Foundation have unveiled the public part of the programme for the celebration of Aarhus' newest neighbourhood, which will take place on May 22. Staff and students are invited along with the rest of Aarhus.

Whether you are curious about the buildings, the architecture, or the exciting work taking place here – or just want to enjoy a good party – there is something to look forward to.

The programme will run from 13:00 through 18:00, includes 17 different speed talks around the University City by experts from the construction industry, AU researchers and entrepreneurs. There will be talks on a wide range of subjects, from the transformation of the municipal hospital into a university campus to the Danish economy in uncertain times and music as medicine.

There will also be seven different tours of the University City where you can learn about the architecture, hidden histories, sustainability and student life.

See all of the speed talks and tours on offer on the universitetsbyen.dk website (in Danish). Registration is open.

Live music, a movie and a surprise

You can also watch a film about the University City, get an inside look at some of the new buildings at open house events and enjoy live music on three different stages. The day will culminate with a concert by a major Aarhus name on the University Square in the heart of the University City.

More information will be made available on the universitetsbyen.dk website once the details of the programme have been finalised.

The majority of activities will take place in Danish, but there will be a few in English. Activities in English will be clearly marked in the programme.

The University City opening celebration is free, and you can register on the universitetsbyen.dk website.
