Learning objectives and course content

In this course you will obtain basic language skills in Ukrainian. The course will introduce you to the Cyrillic alphabet, Ukrainian pronunciation and grammar. Through small dialogues and language exercises, you will obtain communication skills for interacting with Ukrainian speakers in daily work or study life situations, here and abroad. 

The course includes:

  • Cyrillic alphabet
  • Basic pronunciation
  • Basic grammar
  • Basic vocabulary
  • Basic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
  • Understanding of simple texts and questions
  • Interaction in small dialogues
  • Online resources to practice your Ukrainian skills

In addition, the course will give you a first introduction to Ukrainian society and culture through various media materials. You will strengthen your intercultural competences and learn to navigate differences and similarities between Ukrainian and Danish culture.

Target group and practical information

The course is open to all students at Aarhus University, across study disciplines. There is no entrance test or language requirements, but for group differentiation, please indicate your knowledge of other foreign languages and/or general grammar (stx “almen sprogforståelse”), when registering for the course.

The language of instruction: Ukrainian and English.

The course is physically held in Aarhus, Nobelparken, Jens Chr. Skous Vej 7, Nobelparken bygning 1453, lokale 223 (2. sal).

The course will take place on Thursdays from 15-18h for twelve weeks, starting from February 9, spring semester 2023. See specific dates above.

Course certificate

You receive an official course certificate from Aarhus University upon completion of the course.

A minimum of 75% participation is required.
