Question no. 1: Are you allowed to quote other people’s texts in your exam paper without indicating where the text comes from?
Answer: No, I am not allowed to do that. It is a direct quote and I therefore clearly mark it by using e.g. italics and making a reference to the author, book and page number.
Question no. 2: Are you allowed to use a reworked version of conclusions etc. from your teacher’s slides in your exam paper?
Answer: Yes, I am allowed to do that as long as I remember to make a reference to indicate that the text is based on material from the teacher.
Question no. 3: Are you allowed to use text from a previously assessed exam paper in a new exam paper?
Answer: Yes, but only if I make a reference to my old exam paper, so it is clear to the examiner that the text has been part of a previous assessment.
Question no. 4: During an on-site written exam, are you allowed to text with your friends about where to meet when the exam is over?
Answer: No, all forms of communication during an on-site written exam are strictly prohibited. This is also the case even though the communication has nothing to do with the exam.
Question no. 5: Are you allowed to write an exam paper for an individual examination in cooperation with a fellow student?
Answer: No. In case of an individual examination, I must write the exam paper myself.
Question no. 6: Are you allowed to bring your own notes to an on-site written exam where no materials are permitted.
Answer: Yes, I am allowed to do that. I just have to put them in my bag before the exam starts, so the exam supervisors can see that I am not cheating.
Question no. 7: Are you allowed to leave parts of the collected data out in your exam paper, if the data do not support the hypothesis you have formulated.
Answer: No, never. That would be manipulation of data.
Question no. 8: Are you allowed to sit the exam if you have seen the exam assignment before the exam by mistake?
Answer: No. I must inform a member of university staff about it and I will be offered a new chance to sit the exam.
Question no. 9: Are you allowed to sign a course participants list on behalf of a fellow student if the teaching is compulsory?
Answer: No, never.
Question no. 10: Are you allowed to upload your exam paper from home in connection with an on-site written exam?
Answer: No, never. At on-site written exams, you must always be present.
