GUIDELINES FOR PROJECTS

Project contracts

What is a project contract?

A project contract is an agreement between you as a student, your supervisor, and your degree programme.

It is via the project contract that your supervisor professionally approves your problem statement and your collaboration.

The project contract forms the framework for individual projects and is used, among other things, to set up your exam in WISEflow.

Please note:

  • The submission deadline in your contract is final. If you want to change your submission deadline, a new approved contract is required.

Who should I name as a supervisor in the contract?

You must always state your primary supervisor in your project contract. If you have several supervisors, your primary supervisor will be the one who represents your degree programme.

Your main supervisor will automatically have access to your exam submission when it has been submitted in WISEflow.

How do I make changes to my approved contract?

Once your contract is approved, you cannot change it.

You can make a new contract instead. Once it has been approved by your supervisor and your Head of Degree Programme, your new contract will replace the old one.

How long will it take for my contract to be approved?

Once you have submitted your contract for approval, it awaits either your supervisor or your Head of Degree Programme.

You will always be able to see the status of your contract in the Contract Generator. You can contact either your supervisor or your Head of Degree Programme if you have questions about when your contract will be approved.

What kind of project contracts are there?

You need to draw up a project contract in connection with your:

  • Bachelor's project

  • Master’s thesis

  • Projects, business projects and other individual courses

    • In most cases, you need to make a project contract when you take a project course. If you are unsure whether or not you need to make a contract, you can read the course description in the course catalogue or ask your supervisor.

Generative AI (GAI)

Here you can read how you should approach generative artificial intelligence (GAI) in connection with your academic work at Aarhus University.

Please be aware that when it comes to GAI there are things you have to do, things you are not allowed to do, and things you should do. It's important that you familiarise yourself with the rules - and with the tips and good advice on how to use GAI.

Bachelor's project, R&D project and Master's thesis

Common to the Bachelor's project, the R&D projects and the Master's thesis is that it is your own research projects that develop new knowledge. All projects can be carried out in a research group at the university, or they can be carried out in a company supported by a university supervisor with scientific insight. If you want to carry out your project in a company, you must first make an agreement with a relevant university supervisor. Together with the supervisor you can identify relevant companies. We encourage all our students to have at least one project in a research group at the university and one project in collaboration with a company.
