If you are considering going on an exchange during your studies in Geoscience there are several opportunities available to you. Regardless of what you choose, the courses you take must be approved by your head of programme.
If you have questions about the academic aspects of your exchange you can talk to your student counselor or head of programme. For questions about e.g. the application process you can contact your international coordinator.
We recommend that you go on exchange during your Master, but it is also possible to do so during your Bachelor.
If you wish to go on exchange during your Bachelor's programme, this should take place in your 5th or 6th semester. It is important that you find courses equivalent to those offered here at the Department of Geoscience. In other words, you need to choose courses similar to those you would have taken here at Aarhus University.
If you wish to go on exchange during your studies, we recommend doing so during your Master’s degree. Here you have the opportunity to go abroad either in the 1st (7th) and 2nd (8th) semester. It is also possible to go on exchange in the 3rd (9th) semester if you are writing a 30 ECTS thesis.
When you have found some interesting courses to take at the foreign university, you need to investigate the following:
As a Master’s student, you may be allowed to take a Bachelor’s course if it is an advanced-level course at the foreign university or if a similar course is not offered at Aarhus University.
We will also check the above, but you will do yourself (and us) a favor by reviewing it yourself first. Otherwise, your application for pre-approval will be rejected.
You can view the full list of destinations you can go to in AU's MoveOn database. Below are some of the destinations where students from the Department of Geoscience have been in the recent years.

"My time abroad has by far been the best semester I've had at university. I've had so many nice experiences during my stay and met a lot of wonderful people. Most importantly, I've also learned a lot about myself"
"The best part of my exchange was how nature affected me and my mind. I developed and grew by being there alone and spending as much time in nature as I did."
"I was introduced to new knowledge and methods I did not know about beforehand"
"I can very much recommend going abroad! It gives you so many different things both personally, socially and academically"
