An introduction to the bioorganic chemical world and the methods required to design, synthesis and/or find bioactive compounds. The following subjects will be discussed: Intermolecular interactions, bioisosters, qualitative and quantitative structure-activity relationships, modelling, solid-phase synthesis, combinatorial chemistry, including parallel synthesis and split and mix. The course will also include laboratory exercises in solid-phase synthesis and combinatorial chemistry.
