Geodynamical Modeling

Contents:
Fundamentals of stress and strain, elasticity, fracture and flow. The rheology of continental and oceanic lithosphere. An introduction to finite elements and the use of the finite element method for modelling of heat transport and elastic, viscous and plastic deformation and flow of rocks. Application of the theory to the modeling of geodynamical processes such as basin formation and mountain building.
