Physics 1A

Physics 1A

Contents
Physics 1A is a theoretical course with introductions to classical mechanics, elasticity and hydrodynamics, thermodynamics and waves.

Classical mechanics: Newton's laws, work and energy, momentum and collisions, rotation, periodic motion.

Elasticity and hydrodynamics: stress, strain and elastic moduli, fluid pressure, buoyancy, fluid flow (Bernoulli's equation), viscosity.

Thermodynamics: temperature and heat, thermal properties of matter, First and Second law of thermodynamics, phase-transitions.

Waves: wave equations, mechanical waves and sound waves, intensity, wave interference, the Doppler effect.
