The purpose of the course is to introduce the basic ideas of ethology and behavioural ecology.
In a lecture and seminar part the following topics will be covered theoretically: Genetic and environmental influences on the development of behaviour; organization of behaviour; communication; reproductive behaviour and sexual selection; foraging; territoriality and fighting; altruism and cooperation etc. In a project part the students will complete a practical or theoretical project of own choice.
Teaching
1 hour of lecture and 3 hours of seminars per week for 8 weeks
Individual project with supervision.

Evaluation
Seminar presentation and accepted project report.
