Aim

The course gives the student a broad knowledge of important concepts within human physiology. The structure, function and regulatory interplay of different organs and organ systems will be explained through a number of examplifying themes. The course provides insight into current understanding of regulatory control of specific areas of human physiology and provides practical experience through laboratory and computer-based exercises.

Contents

The main themes covered are: Cell physiology, Functions of the cellular membrane, The strucure and function of the nervous system, Sensory physiology, Structure and function of muscles, The physiology of the cardiovascular system, Respiration, Digestion and Energy metabolism during rest and exercise.
