Elective courses

Elective courses (guest courses) at other programmes

Before you can sign up for your elective course, it is important that you do the following in this order:

Step 1: Update your study contract

Your Bachelor's or Master's contract must be updated by you and approved by the Degree Programme Coordinator well in advance of the course registration period - preferably 1 week before. *)

Please be aware that a approved study contract is not the same as a course registration!

*) Course registration deadlines:

  • Autumn semester courses: 1 – 5 May
  • Spring semester courses: 1 – 5 November

There may be other deadlines for students in connection with study start.

Step 2: Check the requirements and prerequisites of the course

Check out the following in the course description in AU Course Catalogue prior to course registration:

1. Do you fulfill the academic prerequisites? If in doubt, the course responsible may be able to help.

  • Please be aware that there may be formal entry requirements and lack of vacant place that the course administrator is not aware of.
  • Approval from the course manager is not a formal approval.

2. Who offers the course?

  •  Check in the course catalogue if your programme is a “Primary Programme”

3. If not, is the course perhaps pre-approved for your degree programme?

  • Please consult the list, that you can find under 'Pre-approved courses' in the menu.
