Specialisation:

Electronics & Photonics

Here you will find a description of the Electronics & Photonics specialisation. This specialisation is available in the Master of Science programmes in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.

The specialisation in Electronics and Photonics will teach you to design and develop electronic and optical systems. It can be anything from small components in smartphones and electrical implants to large systems such as satellites and robots.

You will acquire knowledge of digital and analogue electronics, and you will gain an in-depth understanding of the mathematics and physics behind them. In the work on developing circuits, you will have an opportunity to delve into advanced signal processing, radio frequency technology or 3D-printed electronics.

You will learn how light particles – photons – are used for communication technologies and sensors, how signals are transmitted at the speed of light in optically integrated circuits, and how radiation of terahertz frequencies can be used for future 6G mobile networks.

As a graduate MSc in Engineering with specialisation in Electronics and Photonics, your knowledge is essential for future technological development, and you can solve problems in a wide range of areas, for example in the healthcare or energy sectors.
