Master's level courses while completing your bachelor's degree

You must apply for admission to the Master's degree programme by the regular application deadline before you apply to take courses at a Master's level.
See application deadlines at masters.au.dk.

Who can apply?

You can apply to take Master's level courses alongside your Bachelor's degree if:

  • You are a Bachelor's student at Aarhus University
  • You only have a few ECTS credits left to complete your Bachelor's degree
  • You have a conditional admission to the Master's degree programme

This option does not apply if you are a Bachelor of Engeneering student or if you come from another university."

Guidelines for application

You can only be enrolled in the Master's degree programme once you have completed your Bachelor's degree.

For you, this means that:

  • You can register for Master's level courses for one semester – this period may be extended if the remaining Bachelor's level courses are scheduled for a later semester.
  • You can register for a maximum of 30 ECTS Master's level courses.
  • You must still complete your Bachelor's degree within the maximum study time.
  • You cannot receive SU (student grants) for the Master's programme during this period, but you may use any remaining SU grants from your Bachelor's degree.
    • Specific questions about SU should be directed to the SU Office.

Due to workload and thus your ability to complete your Bachelor’s degree programme, we recommend that you aim for a semester workload that does not exceed 30 ECTS credits in total.
