For an oral/practical exam, you arrive at the university and are examined by an examiner and a censor.
In some cases, there is preparation time just before the actual examination. In other cases, you have prepared a presentation beforehand, or you draw a topic that you will be examined on immediately.
The specific format of your oral/practical exam can be found in the course catalogue
When attending an oral/practical exam at the university, remember to bring:
Student ID card
If you have lost your student ID card, you can read more here about how to order a replacement.
It is your own responsibility to be present when it is your turn to be examined. The examination order is not a timetable, so if a student is absent, the next person on the list will be called immediately. If you want to ensure that you are examined, you should therefore arrive from the start of the exam — you cannot know whether everyone before you has arrived.
For oral exams with preparation time, the first student must arrive half an hour before the exam begins.
Please note: For reasons of discretion and security, the study administration does not inform visitors where and when exams are held. You should therefore inform any friends/acquaintances/family members yourself about when and where your exam will take place.
You can find the examination order and room information under “Exam Schedules” in the left-hand menu. On Studypedia, you can find useful advice about taking oral exams, including how to prepare and what you can do if you become nervous during oral exams.
No later than 10 days before the exam date, you will receive an email in your AU mailbox informing you that your exam is available in WISEflow. In WISEflow, you will find the date and time of your exam.
Aarhus University offers special examination arrangements for students with physical or mental functional impairments. You can read more on the student portal under Rules and Guidelines > Special terms and conditions for exams
Your additional time for oral exams will not appear in WISEflow. However, it has been taken into account when planning the examination order.
The course catalogue states how much time has been allocated for each examination. The time includes assessment and grading.
The aids and materials you may use vary depending on the exam. See which aids and materials are permitted on the course page in the course catalogue.
When the examination has ended, the examiner and cansor will assess your performance and decide on a grade. You will receive your grade immediately after the assessment.
Once your grade has been registered by your assessors in WISEflow, you will be able to see it in STADS and on mitstudie.au.dk.
