STADS is once again up and running, and you can register for spring classes and exams. The registration deadline is Thursday 7 November at 23.59.

NOTE: Remember to save your application as you will not receive a receipt

What is credit transfer?

Students may need or want to comply with the provisions of the academic regulations in unusual ways. Perhaps you would like to complete part of your degree programme at a foreign university or take one or more courses at another institution or faculty instead of compulsory or elective courses that form part of your degree programme at Faculty of Natural Sciences or Faculty of Technical Sciences . In such cases you have to prepare an application for a credit transfer.

You can apply to your board of studies for approval that a study component/course from another higher education institution (in Denmark or abroad) can count as a credit towards your degree programme.

  • Application for pre-approval of a credit module in the spring semester must be submitted to the board of studies no later than November 7.
  • Application for pre-approval of a credit module in the autumn semester must be submitted to the board of studies no later than May 7.

The credit transfer procedure consists of the following steps:

The pre-approval - before you take the course

You must apply to your board of studies for an approval in advance if you want a study element/course from another degree program (or foreign) to be included in your degree. The pre-approval gives you access to apply for admission to the course in question. You must enclose a course description.

The course must be approved in your Bachelor's/Master's contract before you apply for the pre-approval.

Your application must be sent directly to your board of studies via mitstudie.au.dk. The application module ensures you a faster and more efficient handling of the case. Please note that your application cannot be sent until you have entered all the relevant information.

You will find more information on advance approval of credit transfer in the menu under 'Study Abroad' -> 'How to apply' -> 'Advance approval of credit transfer and ECTS'

The final approval of credit transfer - when you have completed the course

When you have completed the course and received documentation for this, you must apply to your board of studies for final approval of the credit transfer. You send your application via mitstudie.au.dk.

Three things are important to remember:

  • you must enclose documentation that you have passed the courses
  • you must indicate the course title in Danish and English (if it is not only available in English). The course title will later on be printed on your diploma
  • you must enclose relevant marking scale from the university in question. This will later on be enclosed with your diploma.

Please note that you must use passed courses etc. for credit transfer in your study program, and you are therefore obliged to inform us of passed courses from abroad or from other Danish institutions.
