Thermodynamics as a tool to interpret formation conditions for minerals and rocks, and related synthetic materials. Equilibrium structures, dissipative structures. Geochemical equilibrium in metamorphic, magmatic and sedimentary systems. Geothermometry, geobarometry. Experimental simulation of geochemical equilibrium versus thermodynamic calculation.
