The course in Basin Analysis was originally designed as a fourth year course and the students were expected to have passed Part 2 courses in sedimentology, palaeontology, geophysics or other disciplines. After introduction of the B.S., the course has been expanded to a full time third year programme which also includes sedimentology and micropalaeontology. It is still possible to follow part of this expanded course and be examined in a reduced pensum.
