History of 17th Century Physics

Contents:
The aim of the course is to give an idea of how science developed by giving a broad overview of the development in the 17th century accompanied by more thoroughly studies of special subjects.
Text-books:
Richard S. Westfall: The Construction of Modern Science, New York (John Wiley & Sons 1971); Steven Shapin: The Scientific Revolution (University of Chicago Press 1996) and hand out material.
Evaluation:
To pass requires active participation or passing an exam. It is possible to obtain further credits by writing an essay.
ECTS-credits:
5, by writing an essay 5 ECTS-credits further.
