Contents:
It is the aim of the course to treat aspects of the history of chemistry within the period 1700﷓1940 taking into account both chemistry's internal, theoretical and conceptual development as well as the social and institutional dimensions of the discipline.
Text-books:
Trevor H. Levere: Transforming Matter, A History of Chemistry from Alchemy to the Buckyball (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2001) and hand out material.
Evaluation:
To pass requires active participation or passing an exam. It is possible to obtain further credits by writing an essay.
ECTS-credits:
5, by writing an essay 5 ECTS-credits further.
