Aim

The course will give the student an extended knowledge of fundamental concepts within human physiology. The structure, function and regulatory interplay of different organs and organ systems will be explained through a number of exemplifying themes. The course provides insight into current understanding of specific areas of human physiology and contains some practical experience through laboratory and computer-based exercises.

Contents

The main themes covered are: Cellular physiology, structure and function of the nervous system, structure and function of muscles, physiology of the cardiovascular system, respiratory physiology, renal physiology and acid-base balance, digestive physiology, exercise physiology, and endocrine physiology.

Type of evaluation and aids

4 hour written exam with aids. Evaluated on the 13-scale with external censorship.
