Cooperative Workspaces


This course covers a number of topics from within the areas of Computer Supported Cooperative Work, Collaborative Virtual Environments, and Pervasive Computing. Specifically the course is concerned with spaces in and through which people cooperate, be these physical, virtual or augmented through computer technology. The course will be arranged as a series of seminars focussing on issues such as: common information spaces, organisation of shared information and artifacts, interactive rooms, cooperative buildings, distributed work spaces, mobility and cooperation over distance, physical space/virtual space/augmented space, support for mutual awareness.

The students are expected to contribute to the seminars through presentations of literature and cases, and through participation in discussions.
