Lecturer: Steffen Bentzen Content: In this course we shall consider questions like: How many primes are less than n? For how many primes p is a given number, a primitive root, i.e. a generator of 
? Given two coprime numbers a and n. How many primes are congruent to a modulo n? In how many ways can a given positive number be written as a sum of positive numbers? The question themselves are interesting, but so are the methods used to answer them: they use techniques from the theory of functions (of a complex variable).
