All international students doing clinical placements must provide the following document before starting the semester.

When applying for admission to the Master's Degree Programme in Medicine, all Danish applicants must consent to a "statement of previous convictions in respect of children" being obtained. Because we cannot obtain this for international students, you must submit an authorised translation (in English or a Nordic langugage) of your criminal record from your home country. Failing to do so will mean that you are not eligible to attend the semester.
German and Austrian students must to apply for the "Erweitertes Führungszeugnis"/"Strafregisterbescheinigung Kinder- und Jugendfürsorge".
Aarhus University will send you a letter you can use when requesting it.
The document must not be older than six (6) months at the time enrollment at Aarhus University.
For students based outside a Nordic country:
You must be tested for MRSA (Methicillin Resistente Staphylococcus Aureus) in your home country no earlier than 30 days of arrival and send us a copy of the results (preferably in English). The test should be from nose/tonsils.
If the test is positive you must start treatment immidiately and inform the international coordinator at health.studyabroad@au.dk hereof.
Pregnancy, parvovirus and pediatric ward
If you are pregnant and have a clinical stay at a pediatric ward it’s essential that you get tested for parvovirus antibodies BEFORE your clinical stay. This is purely to protect your unborn baby.
For Erasmus+ and Nordplus students:
If you need to have your Learning Agreement signed by the international coordinator, please allow for up to five (5) working days to get it signed.
We encourage the use of Erasmus+ Online Learning Agreements, but if this is not possible for you, you are welcome to send us your learning agreement in pdf.
To find out which class and hospital you have been assigned you need to log in to Student Self-Service (STADS). You get access by first logging on to mit.au.dk
The faculty of Health at Aarhus University, works with several hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. The hospitals include hospitals in Randers, Aalborg, Viborg, Herning, Holstebro, Silkeborg, Horsens and the University Hospital in Aarhus.
To accommodate both exchange students and Danish students, we cannot offer all students to spend their clinical placement in Aarhus. Exchange students should expect the possibility of going to a clinic in the Central Denmark Region.
The distribution of students to the clinics is handled solely by Aarhus University, and is not possible to choose.
For students going to other clinics than Aarhus, the University will pay for public transportation to the clinic (certain restrictions apply). For students going to Herning, accommodation in Herning during the 8 weeks placement will be provided.
Most of the time you will be paired with a Danish student and accompany each other in the clinical training. The Danish student will act as an interpreter (when needed) when the international student have to talk to the patients. This is called a buddy/dyade arrangement.
You need a pair of comfortable shoes to wear in the clinic.
You do not need to bring cloak or stethoscope.
In order to create your access to the EPJ system (patients’ file system), the clinical departments must know your Danish CPR-number.
Therefore, as soon as you receive your CPR-number, please do the following:
During your clinical placement you are insured by the hospital.
When you are not in the clinic it is your own responsibility to insure yourself and your belongings.
When you are enrolled in the international semester, you are at the same time registered for the exams at the end of the semester. Please note that we expect you to participate in these, as you will only receive your ”Transcript of Records” upon completion of exams. The transcript will be sent to your post.au.dk-e-mail along with course descriptions from the course catalogue.
You are welcome to have individual papers signed by the responsible doctor after completion of a clinical stay, however we still expect all students to participate in the final exams. Intentional failure to do so will mean that we will take actions towards possibly terminating a partner agreement.
Please respect that no individual grading is provided for individual elements of a course.

We use competence cards in the clinic courses at the master's program in medicine.
The purpose is to both strengthen and make your skills visible during the clinic process through more systematic feedback.
The cards were introduced in the autumn of 2020.
