FAQ

Who, when, and why are parts of Aarhus BSS moving?

Semester start in February 2026 marks the moment we come together on a more closely connected campus in Aarhus.

Starting February 1, 2026, students from the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Economics will conduct their daily activities at Universitetsbyen. The many facilities in the University Park, including library and cafeteria, are easily accessible via the passages between the University City and University Park.

This relocation aims to foster a more cohesive and dynamic study environment, with modern facilities in closer proximity to the university’s other activities. This change provides students with greater opportunities for collaboration and networking across various fields.

Will we have less space in the University City?

Yes, there is a requirement to optimize space by approximately 10% due to a rent ceiling.

The reduction in space will primarily affect office and administrative areas. The aim has been to optimize workspaces for employees, partly by reducing the average office size, in order to minimize the impact on study spaces as much as possible.

The optimisation of the built area makes the relocation more sustainable.

Where can I by food?

There will be a cafeteria called Spisestedet and several café outlets in University City.

In University Park, the Aarhus BSS cafeteria (Social Science Cafeteria) will continue to operate.

You can get an overview of all cafeterias at AU.

Where can I find group rooms and study spaces?

Facilities such as group rooms and study spaces for students are primarily located on the ground or first floor.

You will find group rooms adjacent to classrooms as well as at key junctions, corridor ends, and in "pockets" along the corridors, where "open informal study zones" are available. The atriums serve as the main entrance to the departments and offer large informal study zones suitable for both small and large groups, as well as space for smaller events and gatherings.

In the auditorium building (building 1790), there are study zones connected to the café and the large lecture hall.

Building 1791 contains classrooms and group rooms, with a café and adjoining study area on the ground floor.

What happens to Klubben and Konverterbar?

The famous student bar Klubben will continue in its new premises in the University City and will be housed in the basement of building 1832.

In addition, Konverterbar will be given a new location, as it will be located in building 1812.

The areas can also be used as study environments during the daytime.
