Language test

Several of AU's partner universities require documentation of your language skills.

If you are unsure whether you can pass a language test, you can consider signing up for an exam preparing language course. Via Google you can find the different providers and choose the offer that suits you best.

Internet-based TOEFL-test (TOEFL iBT)

The TOEFL test is an American language test that is used in connection with applications for admission to English speaking universities or programs in English. The TOEFL is recognized globally and usually it can always be used when you apply for admission to a programme taught in english.

You must pay for the test yourself and check the provider's website for the price. 

It is possible to take the test in Copenhagen and in most big cities in the rest of the world.

The IELTS-test

The IELTS test is a British language test which can typically be used when applying for admission to a British, Canadian, New Zealand or Australian university.

The test is offered by EDU Denmark and is held in Copenhagen. You must pay for the test yourself and check the provider's website for the price. 

The study school in Copenhagen offers preparatory courses for the IELTS test.

French test

If you need to be able to document your French language skills, you can register for a DALF test. The test is offered by the French Ministry of Education and gives access to French universities. 

All exams take place at the Institut français in Copenhagen. You must pay for the test yourself and check the provider's website for the price. 

German test

Most German-speaking universities accept Goethe certificates at different levels, depending on the specific language requirements of the university (this applies to both German and Austrian universities). You must pay for the test yourself and check the provider's website for the price.

Free language courses at AU

The Faculty of Arts offers free language tuition to all AU students.

The language courses do not give you any ECTS credit, but you will receive a course certificate from AU and will be offered an international language certificate when you have completed the course. You will find more information about the offered language courses and a link to registration here .
