The objectives of the course are to make the participants familiar with Drosophila as as a useful model organism in population biology through a number of laboratory experiments, and to train the students to design and carry out their own independent experiment.

The course will cover the following topics: Introduction to Drosophila as an experimental organism and training of some basic experimental skills. Choice of own experiment among several possible presented by the teachers. The experiment will normally be carried out in collaboration with a fellow student under supervision of one or two of the teachers. During seminars, the students will present and discuss some relevant background literature.

The course will be evaluated on the basis of a written report and oral presentations.
