Topics in Number Theory
3-4 hours of lectures / seminars per week

The course is a continuation of the courses:
A. Introduction to Analytic Number Theory (F2000) and
B. Introduction to Algebraic Number Theory (S2001)
Among the topics we shall consider are:
1. Dirichlets theorem on the group of units in a number ring.
2. Dedekinds zeta-function
3. The analytic class number formula
4. Cyclotomic units and their index in the full group of units
Prerequisites:
The course in algebraic number theory from S2001. The course in Analytic Number Theory from F2000 will be helpful, but not essential
