Aim

The course trains the student to work in a molecular biology laboratory and become acquainted with standard techniques. This includes laboratory safety and regulations regarding handling biological samples including genetically engineered materials.  

Contents

Dependent on the size of the project (10, 20 or 30 ECTS) the student must spend as a minimum 100, 200 or 300 working hours in the laboratory. Further it is required that the student should read original literature related to the project and participate in a safety course.

Type of evaluation and aids

The student must prepare a report containing description of the project, the experiments performed, and the results obtained. The size of the report has an absolute maximum of 10, 20 or 30 pages corresponding to 10, 20 or 30 ECTS respectively. The report is evaluated according to the 13-point scale with an internal examiner.
